Summary

A wine style with little tradition, yet sits modernly as the most famous wine of Valpolicella. Made from grapes sourced from throughout the greater Valpolicella DOC, dried off the vine for 100-120 days, and fermented mostly dry. This powerful wine has a minimum abv of 14%, and spice tones from a minimum of 2 years oak ageing in large Botti or Barrique barrels. Riserva wines have a minimum of 4 years ageing in cask. Due to its global popularity, high volumes are produced. Therefore a range of quality and prices are available. 65% of production is exported.
