Xinomavro
A black variety, originally from Greece

Summary

One of the most prized black grapes of Greece, it is often compared to Nebbiolo due to similar color and similar levels of acid and tannin. With age, the wines develop extremely complex tertiary aromas. It is made into single varietal wines but sometimes blended with Merlot to soften the tannin and provide an earlier-drinking wine.
