Garnacha Tinta
A black variety, originally from Spain
Summary
Popular in dry climates, this variety grows upright and is often pruned short. While successfully made as a single varietal wine, it is frequently used in Vin Doux Naturel, and as blending partner around the world (due to its ability to accumulate significant sugar). Careful attention in the cellar is required to prevent oxidation and loss of color. Referred to in France as Grenache Noir.
