Summary

Historic DOCG located in south-east Tuscany. Famous for red wines made from a minimum 70% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese). Varied soils and an overall hilly topography with varied elevations, wines often vary in terms of aromatic and structural nuances. Two years of ageing is required before release, with a minimum of one year in oak. A Rosso DOC category is available for an earlier drinking, more affordable wine style.
