Valle d'Aosta DOC

Summary

The smallest wine region in Italy. Located in the far north west. Bordering France and Switzerland, wine labels can be confusingly written in Italian or French. Jagged mountain terrain has vineyards on steep terraced sites. The overarching DOC is home to native, regional and other Italian varieties, alongside French and German grapes. Higher quality cooperatives are important to the local industry.
