Trentino
Summary
This wine region in North East Italy is heavily influenced by an Austrian heritage. The Alps’ foothills location promotes a moderate continental climate with high daytime summer temperatures. This means this area is not confined to only early-ripening grapes. Neighbouring Lake Garda's cool breezes moderate summer heat, as most grapes are grown on the warmer lower slopes which are tended by hand. 80% of production is produced by cooperatives as vineyard holdings are very small (1.2ha). The Cavit cooperative is responsible for 60% of total production. Important sub-zones such as Ziresi may be listed on labels.
