Tavel AOC

Summary

A rosé only appellation located in the Southern Rhône. Wines are dry and medium pink-orange in appearance. Based on Grenache, with a total of 12 principal varietals and 12 permitted varieties allowed within the final blend. None of the principal varieties may exceed 60% however. Restricted yields at a maximum of 46hL/ha promote high intensity in fruit. Successful regions producing lighter coloured rosés (Provence), have led some producers to seek reduced maceration periods for a softer coloured expression.
