South Eastern Australia Zone

Summary

This wine zone is a large and diverse area that encompasses the states of New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania, as well as parts of Queensland and South Australia. Covering over 4 million hectares of land and producing a wide variety of wine styles, this is the largest zone in the country, and accounts for a significant portion of the country's wine production and export. A generally warm and sunny climate allows many grape varieties to be grown. Wines are typically characterized by ripe fruit flavors, balanced acidity, and smooth tannins. Many wines are blended from grapes grown across different regions within the zone, allowing winemakers to create complex and well-balanced wines.
