Saint-Chinian AOC

Summary

Good value appellation within the Languedoc which sits between Minervois AOC and Faugères AOC extending into the foothills of the Cévennes Mountains. Red wine production dominates here, however fresh dry rosé wine and whites are increasing. The northern area has free draining schist soils, which lowers yields and increases concentration in wines. The sub-appellations Roquebrun and Berlou are found here. The southern area has more clay based soils where higher yields and less concentrated fruit is more common. Red and rosé wines must include at least 50% Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre
