Pessac-Léognan
Summary
Area with reputation for producing the best dry white wines of Bordeaux, which are often fermented and aged in French oak. The bulk of production however, consists of red blends. Gravel soils and moderating influences from the Garonne river are linked to the high quality premium priced expressions. There is one First Growth from the 1855 classification found in this area, Château Haut-Brion.
