Peel Region

Summary

A lesser known region in the Greater Perth Zone of Western Australia. The climate is mediterranean in type, with cool winters moistened with regular rainfall and hot, dry summers. Cooling breezes from the Indian Ocean counteract a certain amount of heat, however, easterly winds from the Wheatbelt can be particularly brutal throughout the summer months. Production is currently in decline. Known for powerful reds and fortified wines.
