Regional appellation of Niagara Peninsula GI that, unusually for a northerly region, has grapes planted on the north-facing bluff and benches to take advantage of the lake effects from Lake Ontario. Renowned for its production of high-quality cool-climate wines. A prominent geological formation that creates a distinct topographical feature in the region, consisting of steep slopes, cliffs, and ridges formed by ancient glacial activity and erosion. The variation in elevation and exposure to sunlight contributes to diversity of terroir.
