Muscadet Sèvre et Maine AOC

Summary

This is the largest appellation (64,000ha) in the Loire Valley, and is located in the Pays Nantais. Besides making basic white wines, there are three cru communaux areas of note, with lower permitted yields and extended lees ageing required. These wines cannot be labelled as ‘sur lie’, as the time spent on lees greatly extends past the sur lie requirements.
