Minervois AOC

Summary

Large appellation located north of Corbières AOC, and spanning both the departments of Aude and Hérault. Many climatic variances are derived from altitude, proximity to the Mediterranean, and Atlantic influences in the west. A long history of viticulture with archaeological evidence of Roman plantings. Most of today’s production is blended red wine, with small amounts of rosé and white wine also found here. Rules for red and rosé wines include, 50% of the final blend must feature at least two principal varieties. Not one variety may exceed 80%.
