Mendoza IG

Summary

The largest wine producting GI in Argentina by volume, and is recognized worldwide for it's strong association with Malbec. Altitude ranges dramatically throughout the GI, with an average of approximately 900 meters above sea level but some vineyards exceeding 1,400 meters. Many of the wines produced at higher altitudes are labeled under more specific GIs. Much of the region has irrigation water available allowing it to grow high volumes of acceptable wine but there are also many high quality producers that use this GI.
