Médoc AOC

Summary

Famously drained marshland located on the western bank of the Gironde Estuary. Heavily affected by vintage variation due to high rainfall and frosts. The Landes forest mitigates the worst of Atlantic weather from top vineyards. A step up from Bordeaux AOC in terms of rules, and wine quality focus. Many black grapes are sourced from the Northern Médoc. Red wine styles reflect the general focus of the area - full bodied, tannic, comprised of blended grapes, and matured in oak.
