Loncomilla Valley Zone

Summary

Located within the Maule Valley Subregion, and situated between the Andes and the Coastal Mountain Range, it has a warm Mediterranean climate, with cooler influences from both the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, which help to moderate temperatures and provide a significant Diurnal Range.

The soils are primarily clay-loam and volcanic, with some areas of alluvial and granitic soil, providing excellent drainage.

The area produces both red and white grape varieties but best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmenère, and increasingly, for old vine with Carignan and Pais. Sauvignon Blanc is the predominant white grape variety.
