La Rioja Argentina IG

Summary

One of the oldest and most traditional wine regions in Argentina, known for its high-altitude desert terroir. Located in the western part of the country, close to the Andes mountains, the region is shaped by its extreme desert climate, with very low rainfall, hot days, and cool nights. The soils are sandy and rocky, providing excellent drainage. It is likely mostly known for Torrontés wines and significant production volume.
