Jurançon AOC

Summary

Located in France but in the the foothills of the Pyrenees, this area has a mildly humid climate with high rainfall. Sloped sites provide drainage but may require terracing to reduce erosion adding to costs. The hot dry Föhn wind aerates the vine's canopy, as well as help to produce overripe berries for sweet wine production. White wines range in sweetness levels from dry to sweet. (70% medium-sweet or sweet / 30% dry) Harvest begins in October for dry wines, with grapes being left to dry on the vine (Passilerage) for sweet wine styles.
