Cold continental climate at high latitudes, the majority of viticulture is situated on slopes overlooking Rivers in the south west of the country and is most known for producing white wines with varying degrees of Residual sugar. Top varieties include Riesling and the cross Müller-Thurgau, although an increasing amount of red wine is being made as a result of rising global temperatures.
