Faugères AOC

Summary

Distinctive and consistent appellation in the Languedoc. Sites are located in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains, with high elevations and free draining schistous soils. 40% of total vineyards are certified organic. These conditions contribute to structured red wines which dominate production. There are also rosé and white wines produced here. Wines have to be aged for a year before release, and are almost exclusively sold in France. Red wines must be blends of Carignan (max 40%), Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Rosé styles are often made with Cinsaut and Grenache Noir, with whites showing blends of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and /or Rolle
