Corbières AOC

Summary

This significant area (4th largest AOC in France) is within the Languedoc and produces bold, rustic red wine (90% of total production), a small amount of rosé and even a smaller amount of white wine. The Tauche and D'Aurillac mountain ranges provide elevated slopes and varied aspects for grape growing. The influence of altitude alongside cool northern wind exposure offset the warm mediterranean climate with diurnal ranges and slow ripening conditions. 70% of wines made from this area are domestically sold within France. Red wines must be a blend and contain a minimum 40% of specified principal varieties.
