Condrieu AOC

Summary

Located in the Northern Rhône, this area has been cultivated since the Roman era, and makes distinctive single varietal white wines. The curve of the Rhône River gives steep vineyard slopes a south facing aspect, contributing to sunlight interception for grape ripening, but also protection from the cold, persistent Mistral wind. Sites are often terraced to offset erosion. Wines are fermented in stainless steel or large oak barrels and often undergo one year of lees ageing for increased texture. The famous Château Grillet appellation is also exclusively dedicated to this wine style and is an enclave of this area. Wines are premium and super-premium in price due to its famous reputation with low volumes being produced.
