Collio DOC

Summary

A hilly DOC zone located on the Slovenia border in Friuli, and in the process of becoming a DOCG. Known for its white production (85%), wines are lively and fruit forward. Calcareous marl soil, locally known as Ponca contributes to the area’s most desired wines, which show balance between richness and freshness. Restricted yields show restraint compared to neighbouring DOCs. The principal wines are often single varietal and may be varietally labelled.
