Spans approximately 250 miles (400 kilometers) along the Pacific coastline, covering various counties including Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and parts of Santa Cruz and San Benito. The region is diverse, with variations in microclimates, but with a general cool marine influence from the Pacific Ocean. A mix of large-scale commercial wineries and numerous small to medium-sized boutique wineries, with varied cool climate coastal wines, and bold concentrated Bordeaux / Rhône style wines from warmer areas.
