Cahors AOC

Summary

Appellation located in South West France along the river Lot. There is meaningful influence from the Atlantic Ocean even though the area is located 250km inland. Lower rainfall however, means less disease pressure with 17% of vineyards certified organic. With a long history of wine production, this area has long suffered from export difficulties inflicted by Bordeaux merchants. Marketing itself as the ‘The Capital of Malbec’, the area has hopes of achieving some of the success achieved by Argentina, with voluntary indications of quality and price.
