Summary
Often administratively included within Burgundy, although divergent with a warmer climate, granitic soil, grape focus, and increased production volumes. Famous for fruity, early drinking nouveau red wines fermented by carbonic maceration, the region now boasts a range of wine styles including age-worthy oak matured Burgundian-style wines. A region currently at the forefront of the low intervention and natural winemaking movement. Contains ten crus of significant importance.
