Barolo DOCG

Summary

DOCG located within Piemonte in North-West Italy. Specializing in powerful long-lived red wines made from Nebbiolo. Taking its name from a town of the same name, this area also comprises areas south of the city of Alba. Grapes grown on blue-grey marl tend to show increased aromatics and fruitiness, and are primarily used for earlier consumption wines. Yellow-grey sand and clay sites are less fertile, contributing to more structured wines that can be closed in its youth and requires long term ageing to reveal its potential. The Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive - (MGA) is the official classification of villages, and single vineyards within this area.
