Bandol AOC

Summary

Unusual for the Provence region, this appellation produces more red wine than rosé. South facing slopes protect this area from the Mistral winds, with the steepest slopes terraced to reduce erosion. Rocky limestone clay soils are predominant. The very warm mesoclimate extends ripening conditions, allowing for late ripening grapes to fully ripen. Maximum yields are restricted at 40hL/ha.
