Adelaide Hills Region

Summary

This region is located in the Mount Lofty Ranges Zone of South Australia. Steep hillsides and valleys give a variety of vineyard aspects. In the north, low altitude, west-facing sites contribute to bolder red wine styles, with high altitude sites in the interior of the region more appropriate for cool climate white grapes. Ripe fruit flavours are prominent due to the intensity of the sun at low latitudes. Experimentation with Italian and Austrian grapes, alongisde low-intervention production practices are increasing.
